THE DREAM STAGE
When I was in junior high school, I read a manga called Mr. Fredward no Ahiru. It tells the story of suspense novelist Kevin Fredward, who moves to the suburbs after a child shot someone with a gun after reading his novel. He lives alone in a large house, and then, looking for a housekeeper, a duck named Rosemary proposes. Although Kevin eventually has a family with Gloria and Nick Junior, so he doesn’t end up living alone, at the time I thought I wanted to be a novelist, use a pen name, and live alone in the suburbs, just like Kevin.
At the time, I didn’t know the terms introvert or extrovert, but I felt that being a novelist could be a very enjoyable career. Imagine just writing stories, earning money, and using a pen name. I thought living alone would be peaceful.
